Day 15 - Tenerife, Spain

Some friends might wonder why I keep posting the image with the arrow to the the island I'm on for their benefit. In reality I need it just as much because I didn't have a clue where these places were. Who knew people have been coming here since 200 BC.

When I booked this trip I had idealistic dreams that the beaches here would be warm and ocean balmy since it's on the same latitude line as the Caribbean. Turns out the water part is dead wrong. The current here comes from Iceland and doesn't get warm until it begins to head east towards the Caribbean. Since beaches are out let's see what else is in this town to see and do.
6am
8:30am
Beautiful downtown
It's quite a beautiful waterfront
Small pool downtown for the kids
Even basic it was pretty
Many buildings are built but totally unfinished. So why did they make it?
Using every square inch of space
One of many beautiful public parks
Originally the King lived up there
And these soldiers made sure no one goes up those steps
In case you didn't know the language spoken here
Just a lovely stroll down a street
I heard music and found this
A local showing of small businesses
Each merchant was so eager to show their works
Oh it's about to be a wild night tonight
This side is full of vendors selling small wears
A few delicious food options. Yes I wanted to try their version of nachos
Public consumption of alcohol is no biggie
A statue remembering the old wall which held out invaders of the 1600's
I had many questions I wanted to ask this woman
These guys were having a blast playing in the streets. Video below
3:30pm - we must leave. Wish I had more time here

Today I wish we could have stayed longer. Sadly it was not to be. We needed to make a run to the next city so we missed whatever fun would happen later that night.

At the end of each night I check off what day today was and look at the plan for tomorrow. For that I look into the activities spreadsheet affixed to the mirror. Tonight I cross the half-way point in this trip. What an adventure thus far. Let's see what adventures the second half holds.

Tomorrow - the Portuguese island of Madeira
